Hi-Tec Oils WSS Expanding Online Reach

Jan 23, 2012

As Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars prepares for the western swing of the 2011/12 championship, the series' online offerings continue to reach unprecedented audiences in Australia and internationally.

The additional resources allocated to the series by Speedway Australia have allowed the online offerings from the WSS to grow exponentially. After 10 rounds of the series, more fans have visited worldseriessprintcars.com.au than over the entire 16 round season in 2010/11.

During a successful 2010/11 campaign, the launch of the WSS Mobile web app and increased focus on the WSS website attracted some 75,000 visitors throughout the season.  In 2011/12, World Series Sprintcars eclipsed those numbers before the end of Speedweek; some 112,000 people have visited worldseriessprintcars.com.au through the first 10 rounds, a number that jumps to 212,000 when factoring in the WSS Mobile web app and Race Night Live on desktop.

On race nights alone, traffic to the WSS website has grown by 200%, Race Night Live has grown by 250%, and the WSS Mobile web app (wss-live.com) has recieved 300% more visitors than last season.

The rapid growth and widespread use of wss-live.com over 3G networks at venues has even led to intermittent network failures at regional centres. World Series Sprintcars is investigating alternative connectivity options for the 2012/13 Championship to ensure network failures do not affect fans of the series.

Not content with standard web offerings, World Series Sprintcars communicates with fans via social media powerhouses Facebook and Twitter, boasting a combined audience of 2,200 fans and growing each week.  An additional 1530 users receive WSS' email updates as soon as breaking news is posted via the WSS MailChimp service (subscribe here).

World Series Sprintcars and Speedway Australia remain committed to fans of Australia's premier Sprintcar series and will continue to grow and build its online offerings, including websites, YouTube, social media and official App Store applications.

Stay tuned for more online updates from World Series Sprintcars as the series heats up in Western Australia.
