WSS Set To Light Up Western Australia In Race To The Finish

Jan 30, 2012

A star-studded showcase of Sprintcar superstars will light up the gold fields of Kalgoorlie this week when Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars blazes through Western Australia in a quest to crown a 25th Anniversary champion.

Leading the charge into Kalgoorlie and carrying all the momentum will be 5 time Australian Sprintcar Champion, Brooke Tatnell. Fresh off a victory at the 50th Australian Sprintcar Championship and their WSS round 10 victory 2 weeks prior, the Krikke Motorsport Team will be looking to make up ground on current leader James McFadden and get within striking distance of a 9th WSS crown.

Standing in the way of the Australian Champion, however, will be one of the best driver lineups ever seen at Kalgoorlie International Speedway.

Among the competitors joining Tatnell will be Australia 2 Shaun Dobson and Australia 3 Dave Murcott, current USAC (USA) 360 Sprintcar Champion Shane Stewart, Californian Tyler Walker, WSS Champion Robbie Farr, the in form Steven Lines and current leader and winner of 6 WSS rounds, James McFadden.

While McFadden may appear to have a stranglehold on the series, he certainly can't afford to falter under the blistering WA sun; a mere 161 points separate 2nd place and 6th on the standings table, meaning fans can expect a free-for-all across the remaining rounds.

Among the lead group are Tatnell, reigning champ and Mr Consistency Robbie Farr, and the winner of the Wednesday night Prelude to the Australian Championship, American Jason Johnson.

Also hot on McFadden's heels are David Murcott, who challenged the lead cars in Adelaide all weekend, and the Monster Energy pilot Steven Lines, who up until his A Main retirement was dominating proceedings and looked certain to be awarded the prestigious A1.

The race to the finish begins Wednesday February 1 in Kalgoorlie, before blazing a trail through Albany on February 4, Manjimup on February 8, Bunbury on February 10 & 11 and culminating at the multi-million dollar Perth Motorplex on February 17 & 18.

Stay tuned for more online updates from World Series Sprintcars as the series heats up in Western Australia.
