Albany Preparing To Host First Ever WSS Event

Feb 2, 2012

For the first time ever, Hi-Tec Oils World Series Sprintcars will visit Attwell Park Speedway in picturesque Albany, Western Australia. Join the celebrations in the lead up to the event at the track on Friday February 3rd.

Located along the southern coast of Western Australia, "Amazing Albany" is less than 5 hours drive from Perth, and is one of Western Australia's largest cities outside of the state capital.  Known for its rugged coastline and breathtaking scenery, Albany was named Western Australia's top town in 2000 and 2006.

Just 7km north of the city centre is Attwell Park Speedway, where venue operators are preparing to host the roar of World Series Sprintcars for the first time in the Series' 25-year history.

To celebrate, the venue will host a Meet and Greet session with the drivers and team, affording fans the opportunity to get to the venue, meet their favourite drivers, have autographs signed and more, all while enjoying food and bar facilites and big screen footage from 6.30pm.

On Saturday afternoon before cars hit the track, Attwell Park will open the pit gates to fans for 1 hour (3pm-4pm) for unprecedented access to teams and drivers. Fans can arrive early for their chance to meet drivers, take photos, get autographs and buy team merchandise.

Attwell Park President Kevin Theyer commented on the landmark event.

“We’re very excited to be hosting a World Series Sprintcars round at Attwell Park.  The speedway has undergone some dramatic upgrades in the recent past, with even more to come prior to the event, including a resurfaced track, upgraded pits and a new corporate facility.

“We feel we have the perfect venue to put on a terrific show.”

The 450-metre clay track features high speeds and banked corners, creating an ideal racing environment for Australia's premiere Sprintcar series.
