Questions & Answers

Q: My understanding of time trials was that if two or more cars set identical times, the first to set that time would be the higher qualifier. Yet friday night at the Motorplex, Robbie Farr and Trevor Green set identical times. Robbie was given 15th and Trevor 16th, but Trevor was the first to set that time.

- Michael

A: Micheal, your understanding isn’t quite correct. If 2 drivers achieve the same lap time, their second time is the tie breaker.

Q: So the lights go out on the 25th edition of WSS, my how much has changed in that time but the one constant thing has remained, we [the public] have seen some great entertainment, WELL DONE current and past drivers, and WSS officials. See you all again in 2012/13. STAY SAFE & WELL ALL.

- Paul

A: Paul thanks for your kind words, it was an awesome season and we are very proud of the teams and the racing that was done during the celebration of 25 years of WSS. More importantly thanks to the fans, without them the series doesn’t happen, and to see the huge crowds this year really is exciting for all involved.

Q: I recently went to Bunbury City Speedway and they graded the track half way through the night. Do they do this to the other tracks during the WSS?

- Benn

A: Benn, this really depends on the track surface at that time of the night. Preferably we do not like doing this, but sometimes its better to get the track grade and preparation out of the way then so that the track has time to be a really wide open track for the drivers by the time the “A” Main is rolled out. Some nights we don’t have any track grades and then other nights we need 1 or 2 but this all really depends on the track surface and temperature as well.

Hope this has answered your query.

Q: Can you explain to me how the points system applies in WSS?

- Colin

A: Colin,

A breakdown of how the points work is available in our Supplementary Regulations or, of course, in the 25th Anniversary Magazine, available at the track on race nights.

Q: (For James McFadden) You're leading the points James, are you nominated for the WA rounds? If not, what are your plans?

- Larry

A: Larry,

We spoke to James on the weekend, and he will be in WA with WSS.

WSS Management

Q: The new "open red" rules are great for both fans and drivers as we all want to see the cars race, not sitting on the infield. Let's hope other state series can catch this on!

- Warren

A: Warren, we are very happy with how the Partial red has worked this year. It has meant anyone involved in the Red Light stoppage get the opportunity to get fixed and get back in the race.

The drivers had a lot of voice in bringing this in and it is a rule which is run in Brisbane constantly and they advised us on how to work it. We are glad to hear you appreciate it as well, and as you said it is all about getting the cars back on the track which is better for everyone.

Q: Why isn't the "Greatest Show On Dirt" at Sydney Speedway in recent years?.

- Wayne

A: Wayne,

The WSS hasn’t been back to Speedway due to the Management of Sydney Speedway not wishing to take a round of the series for reasons only they can answer. I can assure you though talks are already in place about hopefully getting the series back to Sydney Speedway next season.

Q: I travelled from Sydney to Brisbane to watch WSS, and I have to say it is without doubt the greatest show on dirt, and Wade Aunger is the best commentator in the land. The full house was a testament to how strong the series is. Keep up the good work everyone, I absolutely enjoyed the racing.

- Rick

A: Thanks for your kind words, Rick. The event was certainly a top class event and Wade is a huge part of that. I will forward your comments on to him and I have no doubt he will be chuffed to hear that.

We are all excited about the way WSS is going at the moment and we hope it just continues to get stronger. Thanks again Rick and we hope to see you at a WSS round again soon!

WSS Managment

Q: Hi Robbie (Farr), well done to you and your team on winning last years WSS. How do rate that win compared to your aussie titles in both sprintcars and speedcars?

- Rod

A: Hi Rod,

It's a good question.

I guess winning an Australian title was a big thing for me because as a kid watching guys like Garry Rush win so many that's what I wanted to be: an Australian Champ. But winning WSS is such a cool thing to win, because you're racing the guys that you a lot of respect for there talent, and after coming so close so many times it was starting to consume me a bit.

Thanks for the question hope it answers it for you.

- Robbie Farr, WSS Champion, ECPR Racing
